An Early Calling in the Bahamas
Chet Lowe was born in the Bahamas in 1970. It is no wonder that he grew up around faith when he was coming from a home where faith and life went hand in hand everyday. His parents, Ira, and Pam Lowe, exemplified a life of giving and service that began at a young age. At age seven, Chet created a Vacation Bible School in the garage of his family.
Missions Beyond Borders
Lowe’s sense of call was strengthened by the experiences of his early teens. When he was thirteen he went on a mission to South Korea to aid in the construction of a church. These year he was on a mission to Liberia to help build a school. This helped him develop a better understanding of what ministry is and strengthened his right to do what is needed.
Faith Under Fire in Liberia
In 1995, upon marrying his wife Andrea they moved their newly born to Liberia during its civil war. They did so by conviction and not by comfort, and over these years would play a role in helping to bring to life 17 churches plus contributing to the foundation of Josephs Brethren, which reached out to over 1,500 child soldiers and other children of war by providing shelter, counseling, and life-changing encouragement. They grew their family as well, adding four more children through adoption and mentorship.
Building People Through Discipleship
Since 1982, when Chet returned to the U.S. he has been involved for nearly 40 years in directing ministries at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale to singles, married couples parents foster care, and missions. He holds a Master’s in Christian Counseling and has trained others to walk through tough seasons of life. In 2005, he started Patmos: Reality Discipleship, with a vision to reach young adults in the U.S. Brazil Bahamas, and El Salvador.
Resilience Through Loss
Lowe’s journey has been one of pain and I want to close the discussion on his life with the pain in his heart. In 2011, the death of his youngest brother, a Navy Lieutenant, in a plane crash was the first occasion. (Since the time of this writing his father and mother have died as well), he has continued to teach and nurture others, letting grief deepen his care.
Leadership in Southern California
After moving to Southern California in 2015, Lowe was appointed the lead pastor at Coast Hills Church in Aliso Viejo. In 2021, the South Bay congregation was invited to lead Calvary Chapel South Bay and its campus was rebranded. Now known as Calvary LIFE, the church is led by Pastor Chet Lowe and Andrea. The four values of the church are Learning the Word, Investing in Relationships, Following the Way of Christ Jesus and Engaging Our World.
A Legacy Still Unfolding
